I am an Indian, working in Russia so my experience includes teaching Russian and Indians both but mostly Russians. Since I have taught Russians mostly I learned and understood how foreigners look at English language. My teaching method changes depending on the student. I understood that I cannot be the same person with every student. And for that I have a lot of patience. I listen more at the beginning which helps me understand the problems of my students. Once I understand the weaknesses of my students, I focus on that and find easy ways to solve difficult problems. I make my students speak more because that’s a very important part of language learning. Learning the language and not using is the biggest mistake of any language learners. Apart from that I’m friendly and very easy to approach. I am very soft spoken too which helped me a lot while working with kids. With kids story telling, expressive speaking and gestures are very helpful. It helps me grab their attention. I use storytelling method in writing lessons too. When teaching grammar I use very simple methods to help them understand and remember the rules. I use tips and tricks, some funny ones which help the students to remember and not forget the rules. With advanced level students the lessons mostly include speaking and using words that aren’t commonly used. Because with them I don’t want to use the basic words that we learn when we first start learning the language. So speaking and broadening the vocabulary is my main focus with advanced and upper intermediate students.
