The nature and structure of my lessons depends on the level of English that you currently speak and what level of English you would want to achieve. As an attorney I spend hours drafting letters and addressing clients and Judges. I also train new candidate attorneys in the fundamentals of property law.
In University I was a tutor for first year law students. The focus areas of my lessons were reading for comprehension and knowledge retention, speaking fluently and confidently, and writing structure.
I like to make my lessons fun and engaging and do my best to ensure that all my students are able to explain a new concept before moving onto another topic. I pay special attention to ensure a variety of approaches to learning to cater for different learning styles and aptitudes.
I have struggled to study throughout the years of my education and have found ways that worked for me through years of trial and error. I believe that there are patterns in all subjects that can be learned to accelerate the building of new skills and broaden the capacity for new information. A trick that I have learned is to pose questions to create a desire for an answer. Once you have a question in mind, you will be more inclined to remember the answer.
My approach is to first cover the fundamentals. I then ask a number of questions to create a desire for a specific answer. I will then teach more specific areas of a topic. Next I will test your knowledge with practical exercises. Finally I will ask you to explain the topic yourself to ensure that you fully understand.
