Aspasia Sallis

I have been teaching for 35 years, both in Melbourne Australia and in Greece. My teaching has involved teaching in english language schools, and also imparting knowledge to Australian born children of Greek descent and in Greece it has entailed teaching English to young and older aged Greek students as their second language. Teaching has always been a rewarding experience for me as I am allowed to witness the growth and development of children in their language learning and it is fascinating to see them evolve and fulfilling in having contributed to their acquisition of their english skills. I am also an oral examiner for Cambridge university examinations of all levels and this is also another insight into how I approach my language learning to my students.
My classroom methodology revolves around immersing learners in english speaking, learning through songs and watching movies to see the language in context. I place great emphasis on writing which is a reflection of material learnt. My love of books, therefore, reading, is a must in my classroom for children to explore the world of books. There is a great deal of humour in the classroom to lighten the mood and inspire the children to learn. Besides being demanding in my expectations, my rapport with children and my flexibility has successfully seen to the enrichment of children's learning on both a mental and behavioural capacity. My passion for working with young people, and adults along the way, have undoubtedly added to my growth as a person and educator.
