Every lesson begins with understanding the student. Before focusing on grammar or exam preparation, I like to learn how they think, what interests them and where they feel confident or frustrated. My work as a screenwriter and film director has taught me to pay close attention to people, to understand the motivations behind their actions and to listen carefully before drawing conclusions. I bring that same curiosity into my teaching, tailoring each lesson to the individual rather than relying on a one size fits all approach.
I believe meaningful learning begins with trust. Critical thinking, creativity and honest expression rarely appear straight away, particularly for children. They grow when a student feels safe enough to ask questions, make mistakes and share ideas without fear of judgement. Once that foundation has been built, lessons become a space where curiosity can flourish. Depending on the student's age and goals, we might explore scenes from carefully chosen films, analyse characters, discuss themes, read together or write original stories. These activities naturally strengthen reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension and speaking skills while making learning enjoyable.
Children are still discovering who they are, and I believe that makes teaching both a privilege and a responsibility. My hope is not simply to improve a student's English, but to help them develop confidence in their own thinking and voice. Having struggled with confidence throughout much of my own childhood, I understand that confidence is not always loud. Often, it is found in careful observation, thoughtful listening and having the courage to contribute when it matters. Those qualities are just as valuable as speaking with certainty.
While I am beginning my journey as a private tutor, my career has required me to communicate complex ideas clearly, collaborate with people from different backgrounds and understand how stories create empathy across cultures. Alongside this, I have developed a strong interest in psychology and human behaviour, which continues to shape how I approach communication, motivation and learning.
Whether your child is looking to improve their English, prepare for school assessments or simply become a more confident reader, writer and communicator, my aim is to make every lesson engaging, thoughtful and adapted to their individual needs. If, along the way, they discover greater confidence in themselves and a deeper curiosity about the world and the people around them, then I will consider that just as important as any academic progress.
