I am Hellen Kilusu, a Counselling Psychologist with a master’s degree in counselling psychology, a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and university teaching experience. I have taught university and college students and have over 12 years of experience in mental health and psychosocial support.
My areas of teaching include Developmental Psychology, Counselling Theories, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Trauma Counselling, and Grief and Bereavement Counselling. I help students understand difficult concepts, prepare for examinations, and connect psychological theories with everyday life.
My teaching is interactive, practical, and creative. I use clear explanations, real-life examples, case studies, discussions, and questions to make learning interesting. I also encourage imagination by inviting students to think through different situations, explore possible explanations for human behavior, and consider how they would respond to various counselling scenarios. Role-play and hypothetical situations can help students develop critical thinking and understand different perspectives.
I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. I therefore create a supportive learning environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. I also adjust my teaching methods to suit each student’s needs, pace, and learning goals.
My professional counselling experience allows me to bring practical insight into my lessons while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics. Whether you need help with academic work, examination preparation, or understanding counselling practice, I will guide you patiently and encourage you to think independently.
My goal is to make Psychology engaging, understandable, and relevant to both academic studies and real-life situations.
