My name is Goodness, and I'm an English tutor with one year of experience. I'd like to share a bit about my teaching experience and the methods I use to make learning English an empowering and positive experience for children aged 2 to 13.
While my experience is rooted in English tutoring, my background in counseling significantly shapes my approach. My philosophy is that effective teaching goes beyond the curriculum; it requires a strong understanding of a child's social and emotional well-being.
My methods are designed to create a safe and supportive learning environment that helps build not only academic skills but also confidence and resilience. Here's how:
Building trust. From our first meeting, I focus on building a trusting and positive relationship with each student. This means using engaging games and songs with my younger learners and fostering open dialogue and active listening with my older students.
Encouraging brave communication. For many students, speaking a new language can be intimidating. I use my counseling skills to identify and address these anxieties directly. Through positive reinforcement and patience, I encourage students to express themselves without fear of judgment, regardless of their fluency level.
Adapting to individual needs. Just as every child is unique in a counseling session, every student has a unique learning style. I avoid a one-size-fits-all approach by using a variety of strategies to tailor lessons. Whether a child learns best through interactive games, project-based learning, or storytelling, I adapt my methods to match their specific needs.
Nurturing holistic development. As a tutor, my goal is to nurture a student's confidence alongside their vocabulary. By celebrating small victories and addressing challenges constructively, I help children develop a positive self-concept that will benefit them in all areas of life.
My larger goal
In short, we're not just working on grammar and reading; we are also empowering each child to become a confident, resilient, and lifelong learner.
Thank you.
