English - Language & Literature Secondary school teacher

I teach high school English with a strong focus on developing students’ critical thinking, analytical writing, and confident communication skills. My approach balances literary study and language development, ensuring students can engage deeply with texts while expressing their ideas clearly and persuasively. Students study a range of classic and contemporary literature, including novels, drama, poetry, and non-fiction, alongside explicit instruction in essay writing, textual analysis, research skills, and academic argument. I place particular emphasis on helping students understand how language, structure, and context shape meaning. In the classroom, I create an environment that encourages discussion, inquiry, and independent thinking, supporting students as they move from guided analysis to more sophisticated, original interpretations. Assessment preparation is carefully scaffolded so students develop both exam confidence and transferable academic skills needed for university and beyond. Across all year levels, my teaching is aligned with high school curricula such as IGCSE, IB, A Levels, or national secondary programmes.
