I have over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience across university, secondary school and private one-to-one settings, with a strong focus on academic writing, critical thinking, research skills, confidence and personalised learning.
At Monash University, I have taught extensively in the Music and Performance program. From 2022 to 2026, I lectured in the Composition and Technology stream and tutored one-to-one classes, supporting students with research, essay writing, reflective writing, project planning, critical analysis, creative development and communication of ideas. In 2026, I also lectured in Classical Theory, helping students understand complex concepts and apply analytical skills in written and practical contexts. In 2024 and 2022, I lectured in Music and Performance and Music Across Place (cultural theory), supporting students with cultural analysis, close listening, contextual research, written reflection and presentation skills. In 2023 and 2024, I tutored tutored Audio Culture and Music Across Place for Interactive Composition, and in 2021 I tutored Audio Culture, assisting students with analysis, interpretation, academic discussion and written assignments. From 2010 to 2011, I tutored double bass at Monash and supported students in the orchestral program.
Prior to and alongside my university teaching, I taught in secondary schools including Northcote High School, Korowa Anglican Girls’ School, St Michael’s Grammar School and Mount Waverley Secondary College. I have also maintained a long-standing private teaching practice with school students, university students, adult learners and creative practitioners.
My approach is supportive, structured and student-centred. I help students clarify ideas, plan essays, strengthen arguments, improve expression, understand feedback and build independent study habits. My pedagogy combines high expectations with encouragement, adapting each lesson to the student’s level, goals and confidence.
