PhD-Qualified English, Writing & Study Skills Tutor — Supportive Lessons for Confident Learning

I am a PhD-qualified tutor with over 20 years of teaching experience, offering supportive online tutoring in English, writing, study skills and humanities-related subjects.

I have taught across primary, secondary, university and private settings, working with students of many different ages, abilities and confidence levels. My experience includes one-to-one tutoring, classroom teaching, university teaching, academic mentoring, workshop facilitation, written feedback and student support.

I hold a PhD in Music from Monash University, where my research involved advanced writing, critical thinking, academic research, communication, presentation and engagement with complex ideas. I also hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts with First Class Honours from RMIT University and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts. Through my academic and professional background, I have developed strong skills in essay writing, editing, research, analysis, creative thinking and helping students communicate their ideas clearly.

As a tutor, I can support students with English, essay writing, reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, study skills, assignment planning, research, presentation skills and general academic confidence. I am especially well suited to students who need help developing clearer writing, stronger arguments, better structure, or more confidence expressing their ideas.

My teaching style is warm, patient and personalised. I aim to make learning feel approachable and supportive, while helping students build practical skills they can use across different subjects. I tailor each session to the student’s needs, whether they are preparing for assessments, improving their writing, catching up on schoolwork, developing study habits, or wanting to feel more confident in their learning.
