My teaching is built on the principle that language is learned through real, purposeful communication, not rote memorization. As a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at the University of Oregon, I design and deliver courses across proficiency levels (A1–B2), and I bring the same structured, student-centered approach to private lessons.

Teaching methods: I use a communicative approach grounded in graduate training in second language acquisition and pragmatics, meaning I prioritize how language actually functions in real conversations, requests, negotiations, storytelling, rather than isolated grammar drills. I integrate task-based learning (role-plays, discussions, real-world scenarios) with targeted grammar and pronunciation correction, so students build accuracy without losing fluency or confidence. I also draw on reflection-based and process-based assessment techniques, meaning I regularly check in on what's working and adjust rather than rigidly following a fixed syllabus.

Content: Lessons are tailored to each student's goals: conversational fluency, academic or professional English, exam preparation (including IELTS, where I have direct coaching experience), or foundational grammar and vocabulary for beginners. I build materials around topics that are relevant and motivating for the individual student, whether that's workplace communication, travel, or academic writing, rather than generic textbook content.

Teaching dynamics: My classes are interactive and low-pressure. I ask a lot of questions, encourage students to speak even when unsure, and treat mistakes as useful data rather than failures. I balance structure (clear goals for each session) with flexibility (adjusting pace and topics based on energy and progress). For beginners, I focus on building confidence and reducing anxiety around speaking; for advanced learners, I push toward nuance, idiom, and natural rhythm.

Experience: Beyond my current university-level teaching, I have designed curricula for K-12 AI Fluency programs and coached students individually for IELTS exam success, giving me range across age groups and learning contexts, from young learners to working professionals preparing for high-stakes exams.
