Conversation is the best way to let someone learn....in any setting the fear of making mistakes proves to be a barrier to them learning... the worry of laughter from native speakers and the inability to be fluent when it matters creates a dam in the life of learners preventing them from achieving language skills. I believe that if I'm able to be in a position to educate a child by spending time with them rather than just books and cram work... then progress is more possible than other commonly used methods.

I also find the theory that learning a language despite the previously learned language is the best way to go... this method creates cram work speakers rather than those with the ability to relate to their mother tongues and find the complexities and bonds that make the language they know and the language they intend to learn so as to know why some things make sense in one and not in another while also grasping the concepts and avoid direct translations and grammatical errors.

Practice makes perfect and having a language in your head and sitting on it is all cool and fun but being unable to speak or get the crux of anything you know makes it just like knowing Latin. So what if you can read the English in a Harry Potter book... congratulations but you can hardly stand infront of a crowd of 2 people and give a 5 minute speech on your birthday and use your skills in the open.
