My passion for foreign languages started with English in elementary school, leading me to a language-focused class in high school. I also studied German since highschool and French in the last years of my BA. BA courses such as Oral Communication Skills, Linguistics I & II, Hittite Language and Culture, Contrastive Turkish-English Structure, Language Acquisition, and Current Issues in Linguistics provided a strong expertise in phonetics, phonology, historical linguistics, writing systems, and language acquisition.
During my MA at the University of Tübingen, I deepened my understanding of English and developed skills for teaching. Courses like Academic Writing, Descriptive Linguistics, Theoretical Linguistics, Syntax, and Phonetics & Phonology Practice strengthened my analytical thinking, grammar knowledge, and pronunciation teaching. Applied courses in Instructed Language Learning, Psycholinguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Language Acquisition guided my curriculum design and lesson planning. Interdisciplinary studies enabled me to integrate cultural competence into academia. Research Project and Ellipsis and Reduced Registers supported my research skills and ability to support advanced language use.
Through six English teaching experiences I had, including my role as Term Intern Teacher at Middle East Technical University NCC, I developed skills in Cross-Cultural Communication, University Teaching, Teaching Young Learners and Adults, Online Teaching, Time Management, Educational Instruction and Assessment, Creative Problem Solving, Statistical Data Analysis, Online Research, Intercultural Communication, Comparative Analysis, First and Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, Research and Development, and Teamwork.
Overall, my MA studies and teaching experience have refined my linguistic expertise and transformed me into a reflective and resourceful teacher, capable of empowering students in academic and professional English. My goal is to become a professional lecturer in my field!
