Timothy Fosbury

My name is Tim, and I am an academic, a writer, and an indepdendent filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany. I have a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. I bring nearly twenty years of experience to my language tutoring. I've worked with students of all levels and ages, from primary school students to advanced graduate students studying for their Ph.D. In addition to tutoring the English language, I have taught and created courses for Harold Washington College in Chicago, UCLA, and the University of Philadelphia.

I excel at creating collaborative learning environments that help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, establish clear goals, and meet their full potential. I take a conversational approach that focuses on fun, community, and learning together. I am a patient tutor, and I have a keen sense of understanding where and how students struggle with the language, and my years of experience have led me to create effective lesson plans. At our first lesson, we'll get to know each other, understand your experiences with the English language, and set goals and milestones that we would like to meet together. From there, we will work on conversational English, business English, as well as reading and writing. I take a comprehensive approach that builds methodically over our time together to build your competence and confidence with the language. English can be a hard language, and I've spent years building a curriculum and map that makes learning the language less stressful. I am passionate about what I do, and I look forward to working with students of all levels around Berlin.
