I approach teaching in a very casual way; this does not mean that we won't be doing more serious things. I just feel that guitar lessons should be an escape from your day-to-day life, and I would love to offer that escape. Often times when my students are struggling with a piece we will work on it very hard, but we will also talk about any new music they have discovered or maybe spend some time dreaming about the coolest guitars.
My main aim as a teacher is to make you excited about the instrument and form a bond with the tools you would use to make music. This is specifically true for most electric guitar students as there are many ways to make your guitar sound different via amps, pedals, pickup selection and such. I want to show my students all the tricks, but I also don't want them to be overwhelmed by any of it either.
Over the last decade of teaching, I have also picked up many skills to make learning easier for the student via online video chat services. I still have students that I teach remotely, and they have still progressed in their playing.
Yes, I teach in a very casual manner, but this does not mean that we will not be taking the instrument seriously. We will grow together on your musical journey and take each step forward to making you the best musician you can be. Let's walk together in this journey and make the most of it!
