I would like to conduct the classes in English, words and phrases that cannot be understood at once will be explained using synonyms and other similar phrases, but German or other languages of the student will only be used as the last resort, that seems to work well in improving conversation skills among students. Moreover, students are free to ask questions as per their requirements and then steer the class in the direction where they need more assistance and support instead of randomly learning facts that might not prove so useful in the short term. Furthermore, I’ve had experience with the Ukrainian volunteer organization ENGin where I was assigned two students and we practiced speaking English once a week and they claimed that their English improved significantly within the 8 weeks that they spent talking to their volunteer (me). We used to plan what we will do in the class that day but also assign tasks for the next class. Classes were flexible, not just in timing but also in dates where if an event lied on the next planned session, we could move the session up or down taking into account both our schedules. This worked well for both the students assigned to me at the time. Also, students are free to pick their own schedule and time for each session, if we haven’t already agreed on one specific day for each session. Classes will be conducted on zoom or Google meet, or whichever app/website suits Bothe the student and teacher.
