My name is Saliha Meltem Genç, I am 29 years old, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English: Language, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Göttingen. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching from Dokuz Eylül University and a CELTA certificate, which has strengthened my ability to work with diverse cultures and adapt to different learning styles. With over seven years of teaching experience in both primary and secondary schools, I have worked with students from ages 6 to 18, in both monolingual and bilingual classrooms.
My teaching is student-centered and interactive, drawing on methods such as communicative language teaching, project-based learning, and the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) model, which I applied while teaching English, Math, and Social Studies. I design lessons that balance grammar, vocabulary, and the four core skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—while integrating authentic materials like articles, videos, and literature to make learning relevant.
In the classroom, I create a dynamic and supportive atmosphere, encouraging students to express themselves confidently and learn from their mistakes. My experience co-teaching with native speakers ,which has given me a deep understanding of bilingual classroom interaction and the value of collaborative teaching. I also focus on developing critical thinking skills, as I did at various schools where I encouraged students to analyze and discuss topics beyond the textbook.
Beyond teaching, I am highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and skilled in preparing lesson plans, giving detailed feedback, and managing classroom dynamics effectively. My goal is to inspire students not just to learn English, but to see it as a powerful tool for communication, cultural understanding, and personal growth.
