My lessons are practical, supportive, and designed to help students use English with confidence in real life.
I am a native English speaker, and for more than 22 years I have taught, worked with, and consulted with non-native English speakers in a wide range of settings. In all of that work, improving their English has been part of the process, whether the focus was teaching, business communication, coaching, or day-to-day professional interaction. That long experience has given me a strong ability to adapt to different learners, different cultures, and different learning goals.
I believe that good teaching should feel clear, engaging, and safe. Students learn best when they feel understood and when the lesson has a clear purpose, so I create an atmosphere that is relaxed but focused. I use a combination of online coaching, guided practice, discussion, correction in context, and real-life examples. I also provide access to online course materials through a platform, which allows students to continue learning between sessions and gives them something practical to work with on their own time.
When needed, I also offer in-person teaching and a more immersive learning experience. I spent a month at Henan Technical University in Xinxiang, China facilitating this kind of work, which gave me valuable first-hand experience in creating an environment where students could engage with English in a deeper and more natural way. That experience also strengthened my ability to work across cultures, communicate clearly, and adjust my approach so that students feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
My background includes working with business professionals, adult learners, and academic groups, including the project with the Chinese university mentioned above. I have found that many learners already have a strong foundation, but need help becoming more fluent, more precise, and more confident in expressing themselves. My role is to make that process easier, more structured, and more encouraging, so students can see steady progress and feel good about using English in practice.
I aim to be the kind of teacher people trust quickly. That means being professional, approachable, and dependable, while also bringing enough structure and experience to make students feel they are in capable hands. My goal is always not just to teach English, but to help people feel more confident using it.
