Hi, I am Simon. I learned English as a second language myself, so I know exactly what this looks like from your side of the screen.

German is my first language and I live in the Alps. Four months of focused work got me a Band 8 in the IELTS Academic exam. I taught myself Italian along the way and I am working through Spanish right now, so I know not only how English works but how a language actually gets into your head.

I spent the last few years living and working in Australia, New Zealand and around Europe, using a second language every single day. Not in a classroom. In real life, with real people, at real speed. That is where I learned what actually helps and what just fills an evening.

This is also my advantage over teachers who only speak English: when a rule does not click, I explain it in German and show you why your head is building the wrong sentence. Then we go straight back into English.

My favourite part of teaching is the moment somebody stops translating in their head and simply talks. I have had that moment in three languages now, and I have a fairly good idea of how to get you there.
