Milou

I am a 35-year-old biologist and ecologist with over eight years of professional experience. My expertise lies within the fields of Biology and English. In 2016, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Biology which was fully taught in English and Portuguese. As a result, I communicate English fluently.

During my Biology studies, I pursued a broad selection of modules including molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, genetics, botany, (evolutionary) ecology and many marine biology modules.

Afterwards, I took several post-academic courses in Fish Biology and Responsible Fish Capture at the University of Bergen in Norway, where I was also active as a research assistant. During this time, I wrote my graduation thesis on the distribution of Echinodermata in the Sognefjord.

Throughout my career, I have held various roles in biology and ecology — ranging from two years as a private tutor (age 12-18) for the subjects English and Biology, to seven years as a marine biologist in the Azores. While working in the Azores, I as well organized educational ecological activities for school groups and international exchange groups, conducted in English (age 4 upto adults)

In 2023–2024, I worked as an ecological advisor at a large engineering firm in the Netherlands. My responsibilities included ecological fieldwork and preparing a wide range of ecological reports for clients.

I believe it is essential for students not only to possess the foundational knowledge needed to achieve results, but also to truly understand the subject matter in depth. After all, understanding is the basis for personal growth — and who knows, the subject I am supporting may eventually become your professional direction.
