Methma Dassanayake

My name is Methma Ravisara Dassanayake, I am 21 years old, originally from Sri Lanka, and currently living in Berlin while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in North American Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. My academic path allows me to explore a wide range of subjects such as politics, economics, sociology, and cultural studies, which has strengthened my analytical and communication skills.

I have a strong background in English, holding advanced qualifications including CEFR Level C1 and an IELTS score of 7.0. I also gained direct teaching experience at ESOL College in Colombo, where I supported students in developing their English skills through clear explanations, patience, and engaging activities. This experience taught me how to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

Professionally, I have also worked in event coordination, media, and client relations, which developed my ability to communicate clearly, organize tasks, and work with diverse groups of people. These experiences continue to shape my teaching style: I keep things simple, interactive, and fun. I often use conversations, reading exercises, slides, and activities to help students learn naturally and confidently.

As a person, I would describe myself as very positive and approachable. I believe happiness and kindness are free, and I try to share both wherever I go. I enjoy sports such as football, basketball, and cricket, which have taught me teamwork, discipline, and resilience. With my friendly character and passion for communication, I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and confident in their learning.
