Lydia Brenneman

As a native English speaker with over two years of tutoring experience, I am passionate about helping young learners develop a strong foundation in the English language. My past teaching experience was focused primarily on students aged five to seven. I strive to create a learning environment that is both fun and supportive. I believe that when children enjoy the process of learning, their confidence grows and with confidence comes lasting progress.

My lessons are student-centered, tailored to suit each learner’s unique personality and pace. I use a combination of interactive activities, storytelling, games, songs, and creative exercises to keep students engaged and motivated. A typical lesson will often blend speaking, reading, and writing practice to build well-rounded skills. For example, we might read a short story together, discuss it using simple conversation prompts, and then follow up with a drawing or writing activity based on the story.

I place a strong emphasis on speaking from the very beginning, encouraging students to express themselves in English through repetition, guided dialogue, and vocabulary games. Writing and reading activities are always adapted to their level and interests, so learning feels relevant and exciting.

Beyond language development, I also aim to create a safe and encouraging space where children feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing at their own pace. I am patient, energetic, and enjoy watching young learners grow confidence in themselves and their skills. My ultimate goal is to inspire a love for language that lasts a lifetime.
