What Are My Lessons Like?

My lessons are warm, engaging, and tailored to each child's unique needs and interests. I believe that young children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and excited to explore.

Teaching Methods & Approach

I use a play-based, inquiry-driven approach that balances structured learning with child-led discovery. My methods draw from the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the Creative Curriculum, and IB PYP frameworks, which I have implemented extensively in international school settings.

Play-Based Learning: Children learn through purposeful play—building literacy, numeracy, and social skills through games, storytelling, and hands-on activities.

Inquiry-Based Learning: I encourage children to ask questions, explore their curiosities, and discover answers through investigation and experimentation.

Social-Emotional Focus: I prioritize emotional development, helping children build self-regulation, empathy, and confidence as a foundation for academic success.

Differentiated Instruction: I adapt each session to the child's developmental level, learning style, and interests, ensuring every child feels challenged yet supported.


Lesson Content & Dynamics

A typical session with me follows a natural flow:

Welcome & Connection: We start with a warm greeting and a quick check-in to build rapport and set a positive tone.
Focus Activity: This is the core of the lesson—whether it's a literacy or numeracy activity, a creative art project, or a hands-on science exploration. I use a variety of materials, songs, stories, and movement to keep children engaged.
Guided Exploration: I guide children through the activity, asking open-ended questions to deepen their thinking and encouraging them to try new approaches.
Reflection & Wrap-Up: We close with a discussion of what they learned, what they enjoyed, and what they might want to explore next. This builds metacognitive skills and a sense of accomplishment.
My Teaching Experience

I have over 10 years of experience teaching Early Years and Kindergarten students in international schools in China and South Africa. I have worked extensively with:

IB PYP and Creative Curriculum frameworks
English Language Learners (ELL) and children with diverse learning needs
Project-based and conceptual planning to create meaningful learning experiences
