1. Always start with a training or reaching need analysis. I use simplest of topics to Ascertain the levels a candidate can or cannot communicate in with this method.
2. Using cognitive therapy, I understand the reasons for an individuals barrier of communication. It could be social, economical, cultural, peer, etc.
3. Give them simplest topics available to speak on. Indulge in the comfort factor. For example. Describe how would you make a pizza you like. This shows if they can express and be creative or not.
4. Allow the candidate to speak for a minute. Notice the errors.
5. Use the sandwich method gor individual feedback. Start by rewarding them with a praise since they made an effort. Next, give them a reality check using empathy to gain trust and provide feedback. End with a verbal pep talk yo motivate and guide them
5. Weekly fun assignments would be given to check their learning curve. Feedback would be given to show them their progress.
6. Use flash cards, case studies, games, simulations, role plays etc. I maje the class as activity based as possible.
7. Always Always Always, be patient and understanding. Everyone is not the same.
