In my previous tutoring experience, I have made use of communicative and task-based strategies such as role-plays and projects and creative tasks to enhance learners' skills. I try to generate creative tasks that promote English as a tool for effective communication. I also try to make use of topics that resonate with school-going students (youth culture, social media and global issues relevant to them) and incorporate literary and media texts. I ensure to incorporate hedonistic and didactic approaches in my engagements, starting with warm-ups, then add focused input, guide practice and close off with a reflection. I also encourage the frequent use of English , clarify concepts and make use of technical tools such as Quizlet or Padlet for engagement. In tutoring, it is essential to emphasise pronunciation, fluency and confidence through dialogues/conversations, authentic materials and student-led learning.
