Hello! My name is Erika, and I am a dedicated, patient and supportive educational professional currently based in Leipzig, Germany. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and a 120-hour TEFL certificate with Distinction. My professional background includes experience as a tutor, mentor and Reading Therapist, supporting children and young people in their academic development.
Throughout my experience working in educational settings, I have developed a strong interest in helping students overcome learning challenges, develop confidence and discover their individual strengths. I understand that every child learns differently, and I believe that patience, encouragement and an understanding of each student’s needs are essential for creating a positive learning environment.
In my previous roles, I supported students with reading development, literacy skills, comprehension, academic tasks and general learning progress. I have experience adapting my approach to suit different abilities, personalities and learning styles. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into manageable steps and helping students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again.
My background in Behavioral Science has also given me a valuable perspective on human development, behaviour, motivation and the importance of building positive relationships. I believe that children learn best when they feel respected, supported and encouraged. I aim to create an environment where students feel safe to participate, express themselves and develop independence.
I can contribute to English language development, reading and writing support, literacy activities, homework assistance and general academic mentoring. I am also happy to work collaboratively with teachers and other educational professionals to support students’ individual learning goals and classroom participation.
I speak English and Afrikaans fluently and communicate confidently in English. Although I am still developing my German language skills, I am motivated to continue learning and integrating into the German education environment.
I am enthusiastic about supporting children’s educational journeys and helping them grow academically, socially and personally. I bring patience, empathy, adaptability and a genuine commitment to helping students reach their potential. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to a supportive educational team and make a positive difference in students’ everyday learning experiences.
