I have many years of teaching experience in higher education, mainly in political science, philosophy, ethics, political economy, critical thinking, academic writing, and research-related subjects. My work has included course design, lecturing, seminar teaching, assessment, written feedback, thesis supervision, and individual academic mentoring. I have taught students from different backgrounds and levels of confidence, so I try to make difficult material accessible without oversimplifying it.
A major part of my teaching has involved helping students become clearer writers and stronger thinkers: developing research questions, structuring essays, building arguments, using evidence, and revising their work. I have also advised PPE students preparing conference applications and presentations, including students going to the London PPE conference.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and intellectually serious. I want students not only to complete assignments, but to gain confidence in their own judgment, writing, and ability to learn independently.
A philosophy tutoring session would begin with the student’s question, text, or assignment. I would help them identify the central problem, clarify difficult concepts, reconstruct the main argument, and test possible objections. The focus would be on understanding ideas deeply, not memorizing summaries. I would then help the student organize their own interpretation into a clear argument, with careful use of evidence from the text and precise philosophical language.
