English tutor who teaches students of all ages

Hi. My name is Roberta. I am an experienced English teacher who worked in India, the USA, and Ireland. My pedagogy is informed by fairness, equality, content knowledge, and rigour. I hold a M.S. in education from Hofstra University as well as I completed a PhD in Ireland in 2005. My teaching is based on the idea that you deserves a fair shot at mastering a subject like English, no matter how difficult it seems. To make this happen, I structure my classes into focused mini-lessons. Instead of overwhelming you with an hour-long lecture, I break the material down into small, manageable 'building blocks.' This approach does two things: First, it ensures you truly understand one concept before we move to the next, which helps build confidence. Second, it allows me to pivot quickly if you are struggling, or something is unclear. This makes the lesson a conversation rather than a presentation. My goal is to make high-level English accessible to everyone by keeping the instruction clear, the goals reachable, and the feedback immediate.
