Em Chmiel

Hello! I am a native English speaker from the United States and graduated from Columbia University in 2025 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Visual Arts. I have several years of experience working with students of different ages and backgrounds through tutoring, mentoring, childcare, and educational programs.

My lessons are personalized to each student’s level, goals, and interests. For younger students, I use games, stories, conversation, and creative activities to make English engaging and build confidence. For teenagers and university students, I can support academic English, essay writing, presentations, research, and university and college applications, including personal statements and application essays.

I also work with adults and advanced English speakers who want to refine their communication skills. Lessons can focus on conversational fluency, pronunciation, professional and business English, presentations, interviews, writing, or communicating confidently in international work environments. For advanced students, I emphasize nuance, natural expression, vocabulary, and the cultural context that helps English sound more polished and authentic.

My goal is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes while making measurable progress toward their individual goals.
