I teach in dialogue with my students. The language I use is adjusted to the level of the student. I can translate unfamiliar words/structures into German. That means the student learns also while I explain whatever is necessary in English - there is no "waste" of time. In other words, I teach English in English and attempt to make myself understood even if the explanation is in English. If it's too difficult - in case of a student's elementary level (absolute beginner) - then I use German.
I have also a lot of experience in teaching in companies. The approach is basically the same. One difference is that my students in companies ask for specific topics related to the given company product, activity or department - it could be office communication, presentations, intercultural aspects of communication but also project management, understanding basic economics, and more.
Last but not least, in more recent years I have been teaching English at different universities (also in China) with their specific needs - technical English, legal English, English for academic writing, etc.
Even though I'm (probably) quite a bit older than most of my students, I have no problem with the familiar (first name) form of address. You can call me Edwin - if you feel comfortable with it.
