I personally believe one can teach better only if they love who they teach more than what they teach. This means my priority is creating a supportive, encouraging, and engaging relationship with my students. When a student feels seen and valued, they become more motivated, resilient, and open to the challenges of learning.
My expertise lies in teaching grammatical structure in both writing and speaking. I don't believe in teaching grammar in isolation; instead, I focus on integrating it directly into speech.
I use the student's own writing, chosen reading materials, or conversational topics as the basis for instruction.
For verbal practice, I use sentence frames and role-playing scenarios that require the student to naturally produce the target grammar, helping them build fluency and confidence.
My tutoring sessions are collaborative, not purely directive. I view my role as a guide and a facilitator.
I provide feedback that is specific, actionable, and delivered in a supportive manner. The focus is on progress, not perfection. Mistakes are reframed as essential data points for what to teach next.
I have experience helping students transition from rule memorization to true grammatical fluency across various levels. I have found my greatest enjoyment and success working with teenagers and adults.
I enjoy helping them refine their academic writing skills for high school and college applications. My easy going nature has been helpful in this to connect cand bond with anyone easily which is important while teaching.
In short, I teach the structure, but I focus on building the communicator.
