As an elementary teacher, my lessons – across all subjects like English, Math, Science, and Filipino – are structured to be engaging, age-appropriate, and built around young learners’ needs, typically running 30 to 45 minutes each. I always start with a 5- to 7-minute warm-up to energize the class and connect to prior learning; this might be a quick song related to the topic, a fun review game, or a short discussion where kids share what they already know. Next, I spend about 5 minutes introducing the day’s lesson with clear, simple explanations, using visual aids like charts, pictures, or real objects to make concepts easy to understand – for example, using counting blocks for Math, or showing plants for a Science lesson on growing things. The main activity takes 15 to 20 minutes and involves hands-on, interactive practice; this could mean working in small groups to solve math problems, doing a simple experiment for Science, writing or drawing for Filipino, or acting out stories for English. To wrap up, I dedicate 5 to 7 minutes to reinforce learning through play or reflection – like a matching game for Math facts, a quick "show what you learned" activity, or a group discussion where kids share what they discovered. Each part of the lesson is designed to keep children focused, build their confidence, and make learning feel like fun.
