Cary Siress

Originally from the USA, I am a former Design Professor who has worked at universities throughout Europe and Asia. Additionally, I have taught public speaking courses in English for professionals at Max Planck Society, and the Humboldt Institute.

My approach to teaching English is built on three simple principles: Be Active, Be There, Be Open.
I believe language learning should be exciting and connected to real life. Learning English isn't just about grammar rules—it's about discovering new ways to express yourself, connect with people from different cultures, and open doors to new opportunities around the world.

I'm fully committed to being there for my students. I invest time in getting to know each learner, understanding their goals, and supporting them through challenges. I want students to feel confident using English, knowing they have a teacher who believes in them and celebrates their progress.

Most importantly, I stay open—open to learning from my students' diverse backgrounds, open to their questions and different perspectives, and open to discovering together. My passion for teaching comes from working with young people from all over the world. Each student brings unique experiences and ways of seeing the world, which makes every class an adventure.

I've been fortunate to teach and learn in many different countries—Germany, Scotland, Singapore, Switzerland, Argentina, and China. This experience taught me that the best teaching happens when we create a space where everyone feels comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and celebrating small victories. Language learning should feel like a journey of discovery, not a test to pass.
