My approach to teaching Turkish

In my private Turkish lessons, I prioritize building a strong connection with each student and creating a comfortable space where they feel encouraged to speak, make mistakes, and grow. Since I teach Turkish to English speakers, I often use English strategically to explain tricky grammar points or draw parallels that make Turkish more intuitive. I always start by getting to know the students's goals whether they want to improve speaking for daily conversations, prepare for a move to Turkey, or just explore the language out of curiosity. Based on their needs and level, I design lessons that balance speaking, listening, vocabulary, and grammar, using real-life contexts and examples. I like to keep lessons practical and conversational. For beginners, I focus on building a foundation with simple dialogues, useful phrases, and pronunciation practice.
As students advance, we move into more complex sentence structures, reading short texts, and discussing topics that are of interest to them. I also provide personalized materials and short assignments to reinforce what we cover in class. I believe consistency and relevance are key, so I adjust the content based on what the student enjoys or struggles with.

My goal is not only to teach Turkish, but to help students feel confident using it in real life, step by step. Each student learns differently, and I do my best to make the trip enjoyable, motivating and tailored to them.
