Engaging Native English Tutor – From Early Years to Advanced Learners

Hello,

My name is Rebecca van Rooyen, and I am a native English speaker from South Africa with a Bachelor of Education and a TEFL certificate. I have several years of experience teaching English and other subjects to children and young people in South Africa and Spain, both in traditional classrooms and online.

I have worked with a wide range of learners, from reception-aged children through to secondary students preparing for Cambridge English examinations (A1–C1). These experiences have taught me to adapt lessons to individual needs, to use creative and engaging approaches, and to build supportive relationships that help students gain confidence in their English skills.

In addition to English, I have knowledge of Spanish and Afrikaans, which has strengthened my understanding of the challenges and rewards of learning a new language. I believe this makes me particularly empathetic to my students’ journeys.

I am passionate about creating a positive, encouraging atmosphere where students feel motivated to improve, whether they need support with schoolwork, exam preparation, or everyday communication.
