Bojamma Gandhi

My lessons are communicative, student-centred and designed around clear learning objectives. My approach is strongly influenced by my Cambridge CELTA training, with an emphasis on giving students plenty of opportunities to use English actively rather than simply listening to explanations.

I adapt each lesson to the learner's age, level, goals and preferred learning style. Lessons typically combine speaking and interaction with focused work on vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, while also developing the four key language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I use real-life situations, guided discovery, practical examples, visual materials and targeted activities to make language meaningful and memorable.

With younger learners, I keep lessons dynamic and varied, using games, visuals, movement, repetition and short activities to maintain engagement. With teenagers and adults, I focus more on practical communication, fluency, accuracy and language that can be applied to academic, professional or everyday situations.

I have taught English in multilingual and multicultural environments, including young learners and adolescents aged 3–13 in Portugal. I have also delivered specialised English training to executive staff at the Presidency of the Republic of Timor-Leste using United Nations course materials.

My broader professional experience in corporate leadership, training and organisational development also influences my teaching, particularly when working with adult and professional learners. I aim to create a relaxed but purposeful learning environment where students feel comfortable communicating, making mistakes and gradually becoming more confident and independent users of English.
