I have the experience of teaching Functional grammar as well as English Literature both in my Home country and in East African Countries namely, Kenya and Tanzania.
The methodology of teaching may vary depending on the Learner and the environment but I am flexible and I always try to follow a student- centered approach in my teaching, I used to consider the individual differences of my students so that I can give them out what they really want and that will be helpful to the students as well as myself
With young learners, I used to promote them asking doubts, oral and written tests, Special Training to LSRW skills with a variety of teaching materials including drills, grammar from context, flash cards to learn vocabulary audio and video to improve their listening skills, One to one conversation and role plays to get more and more competent in speaking skills.
With adult learners also I apply some of the above mentioned techniques but in a more elaborate manner suit to their age and interest. Apart from that they will be given more topics for Debate and Group discussion so that they may find out grand new phrases and new vocabularies apart from the regular ones and which will really guarantee their language proficiency.
Moreover, there will be special training in Phonetics to improve the pronunciation, intonation and accent of the language and arrangement of situational conversation on an everyday basis to reduce anxiety and inferiority complexes regarding articulation and expression of ideas.
