Angel Twenty Requilme

Hey there! I am Angel, 28 years old from the Philippines. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in English Language. I worked part time as a private tutor when I was in college. I teach foreign students English as a Second Language. I also catered Filipino students.

I structure my lessons differently based on the needs of the students. For example, Korean students ages 6-12 has distinct levels of knowledge with the English language. Also, like any foreign student I start my lessons with short introductions from both me and the student. I then assess their level of understanding and how much they know about English. I test them with the four English macro skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

With Filipino students, I helped them with their reading, home works, and school projects.

After the introduction and the assessment, I will now start with my lesson. For foreign students in the elementary level, I start with phonics. I teach phonics using songs with illustrative gestures using both hands.

Since phonics is a long and tedious topic for students in the elementary level, I start teaching the vowels first. I start to teach vowels with their long and short sounds. I repeat this lesson until the student are ready to move on the next lesson which is consonants.

Since I'll be repeating the same topic again and again until the student gets it, I prepare activities that fit with the lesson. Not only it makes learning fun but also having the student retain what was taught.

I value retention than just the intent of teaching.
