My teaching approach is learner-centred, interactive, and designed to build confidence alongside language proficiency. With a Bachelor's degree in English Honours, a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies, and experience teaching through theatre-based methods, I believe that language is best learned through active participation rather than memorisation. By constantly engaging with the language through different methods, one can make the learning process more efficient and effective.
In my lessons, I combine conversation, storytelling, role-play, discussions, and practical exercises to help learners develop fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and communication skills. I adapt each lesson to the student's goals, whether they want to improve spoken English, prepare for academic or professional situations, strengthen grammar, or become more confident in everyday conversations.
I encourage students to speak from the very beginning, creating a supportive and engaging environment where making mistakes is seen as an essential part of learning. My background in theatre enables me to incorporate creative techniques that improve articulation, listening skills, body language, and public speaking, making lessons dynamic and enjoyable.
As a former Drama Teacher at Jamia Millia Islamia, I designed and delivered courses that focused on communication, presentation, and self-expression. In addition, my research and collaborations with international institutions have given me experience working with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, allowing me to adapt my teaching style to different learners.
My goal is to help students not only improve their English but also become confident, effective communicators who can use the language comfortably in academic, professional, and everyday settings.
