My name is Adam Basson, and I am originally from Sweden. I am a qualified upper-secondary English teacher with a Master’s degree in Education and Literature and nearly six years of experience in teaching, academic mentoring, and online education in international settings.
As a tutor, my aim is to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing confidence in their abilities. I believe that learning should be engaging, meaningful, and tailored to each student’s individual needs, interests, and goals.
Most recently, I spent over two years at an international school in Yangon, Myanmar, where I taught Cambridge IGCSE First Language English and served as Head of the English & Global Perspectives Department, leading a team of 17 teachers. This experience strengthened my ability to support learners with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
Living in Myanmar also deepened my meditation practice and appreciation for mindfulness, compassion, and self-awareness. These values inform my approach to tutoring, where I aim to foster a calm, encouraging atmosphere that supports both academic progress and personal growth.
In my sessions, I combine clear explanations and structured guidance with opportunities for creativity, discussion, and independent thinking. Whether we are working on writing, reading comprehension, literature, grammar, or academic skills, I encourage students to develop their own voice, think critically, and express themselves with confidence.
Above all, I want my students to feel supported, motivated, and empowered to reach their goals while discovering a genuine enjoyment of learning.
