Learn Mandarin Your Way – Practical, Engaging & Personalised
Hello! I'm Ying, a native Mandarin speaker based in Munich, Germany.
I currently teach Chinese and have a professional background in education, programme management and cross-cultural communication. Before moving to Europe, I worked in Shanghai in the consulting and corporate sectors, collaborating with businesses, international organisations and professionals from different cultural backgrounds.
I believe learning a language is about more than vocabulary and grammar. It's about connecting with people, understanding different perspectives and opening doors to new experiences and opportunities.
What can you learn with me?
Whether you're starting Mandarin from zero, improving your pronunciation, building conversational confidence, preparing for HSK, or learning Chinese for work, travel or personal interests, I'll help you develop a learning path that suits your goals.
My lessons can cover Pinyin, tones, everyday conversation, practical grammar, reading, Chinese culture and structured exam preparation.
I also teach children through stories, games, visual activities and creative learning experiences.
What does a personalised lesson look like?
Imagine you're working for an international company and have been asked to explore potential business partnerships in China.
You may need to introduce your company, communicate with Chinese professionals, arrange meetings, discuss potential collaborations or simply build relationships with new contacts.
Instead of memorising unrelated vocabulary, we'll work on the language you actually need.
We might start by practising a short professional introduction, move on to useful expressions for meetings and conversations, and explore how people communicate in Chinese business settings.
Drawing on my professional experience in Shanghai, I can also share cultural observations and practical communication insights to help you better understand the context behind the language.
The goal is not just to learn Chinese words, but to feel more confident using them in meaningful situations.
And if you're simply learning Chinese for pleasure, travel or personal growth, that's equally welcome! We can build lessons around your interests, whether that's food, culture, technology, everyday life or contemporary China.
How do my lessons work?
Before our first lesson, I'll ask a few questions about your background, interests and learning goals.
Together, we'll create a learning path that balances clear structure with flexibility.
I understand that adults have different schedules, learning speeds and levels of confidence. Some students prefer systematic explanations and exercises, while others learn best through conversation and practical examples.
There's no need to rush. We'll progress at a pace that works for you.
I'm patient and encouraging, and I enjoy helping students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I speak fluent English, so I can explain Chinese pronunciation, grammar and cultural differences clearly whenever needed. As your confidence grows, we'll gradually introduce more Mandarin into our lessons.
For students interested in China beyond the language itself, I'm also happy to bring in discussions about Chinese culture, society, technology, business and emerging opportunities when relevant to your learning goals.
Let's start your Mandarin journey!
Whether you're learning your first Chinese sentence, preparing for an exam or hoping to build stronger connections with people in China, I'd love to support you.
My aim is to make each lesson practical, interesting and relevant to your life.
Your goal. Your lesson. Your learning path.
Online lessons are conducted in Mandarin and English.
