Hi,
My lessons will be designed to help children grow in three important ways: academic skills, thinking skills, and confidence.
I begin by getting to know the child, their current level, learning gaps, interests, goals (the way they can describe, always very fascinating to hear), and how they feel about learning itself. I also like to understand though dialogues, what they may not be able to express, such as fear of making mistakes, low confidence, or confusion about how to study.
This helps me create a learning plan that truly resonates with the child. When it comes to academic subjects, I first explain new ideas, convepts using simple language, visuals, and real-life examples. For example, in mathematics I will use shopping, travel, or everyday situations to explain concepts like percentages, ratios etc. so students understand what the concept reflects in real life. Then we practice together, followed by the child working independently with my support. I always ask the child to explain their thinking, which helps build deeper understanding and strong communication skills.
Alongside academic learning, I also work as a mentor. I help students build confidence, focus, problem-solving ability, and gradually the habit of not giving up when something feels hard.
It is important conducting regular, low-pressure checks like short questions, small quizzes, and discussions to see how well the student understands, retains and applies. This helps me spot gaps early and adjust the lesson so learning stays smooth.
To me, it is very crucial to create an open, safe space for giving and receiving clear and constructive feedback, discussing what was done well, what can or should be improved, and how, helping children reflect on their own learning so they slowly become more independent and responsible learners.
My goal is not only to improve grades, but to build and nurture curiousity, confident, and guide the children in becoming capable thinkers who understand how to learn, how to handle challenges, and how to connect what they study to real life and their future dreams. This helps me stay curious and a vigilant adult learner as well.
Looking forward to starting this journey.
