I believe learning to draw should feel encouraging, creative and enjoyable. My lessons are tailored to the individual, so we’ll start by looking at your current experience, what you’re interested in creating and what you’d like to develop. You don’t need any previous drawing experience — complete beginners are very welcome.
Depending on your goals, lessons can explore observational drawing, composition, perspective, colour, different materials and techniques, as well as ways to develop your own creative ideas and personal style. I’m also happy to work around a particular project or piece of artwork you’d like support with rather than following a fixed programme.
My teaching style is practical and supportive. We’ll draw during the lesson, experiment with different approaches and look at your work together, with constructive feedback and guidance throughout. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, trying things out and making mistakes rather than feeling that there is one “correct” way to make art.
I have a degree in Fine Art and am a practising artist myself, working primarily with drawing, painting and mixed media. Alongside my art practice, I have several years of professional teaching experience across university, international school and adult education settings. I’m CELTA qualified and have taught students from many different ages, backgrounds and nationalities.
Most importantly, I want students to leave lessons feeling more confident in their abilities, excited to keep creating and with practical skills they can continue developing independently.
