In my years of experience as a personal English tutor I can firmly conclude that it was productive. Majority of my students are now confident with the language both in written and speaking. Here's how to make learning English fun for my students:
1. Get to know my student
2. Set a target or a goal
3. Make the lesson interactive by using props and telling stories.
4. I am mindful of body language and play with the tone of my voice.
5. Reward the student and play games. And most specially don’t take it so seriously but always Have fun!
Furthermore, there are lots of method or ways to teach the English language, but I would like to highlight my way of doing it which is Communicative language teaching (CLT) This approach is probably now the most popular teaching model for English language teaching globally. In part because it aims to put students in a variety of real-life situations, so that they can learn how to use their language skills to communicate in the real world. Furthermore, students can easily remember the topics that we were discussing if we incorporate their day to day living experience. I can also be treated as a friend that student can share their challenges and give some professional pieces of advice as long as it is within my expertise and experience. A friendly way of teaching without any pressure will make the students more willing to learn and they can just treat it just like their dreams that will eventually be reached no matter how challenging it is.
