With an undergraduate background in Political Science and Education and more than five years of teaching experience, both during my training and afterward, I am well prepared to teach diverse audiences. My current academic work has also allowed me to tutor colleagues and junior colleagues, putting my expertise to effective use through clear explanations, PowerPoint presentations, practical analogies, and connections between concepts and real-world contexts.
I also teach by recommending texts ahead of lessons, so that lessons are more engaging with the students, ensuring a student-focused academic system, thus cementing what has been learned through reading and practice. The content of my learning are usually straightforward, with fewer notes, yet great explanatory techniques, delving into history and the contemporary, giving students and overview of the past and a lens into the future.
Junior students also have the opportunity to role-play in my class, taking on the role of a particular leader that is close to them. This way we do not simply learn, but practice what we learn, and as such develop proper leadership and accountability skills. Inclusively, students will have room to make presentations on tasks in the middle of the program and at the end, allowing them to put to practice and test their knowledge of what has been learned over the course of the given period.
These are attributes that I strongly believe are important to the growth of the learner, where they not only listen, but are actively involved in the learning process, every step of the way.
Thank you.
