Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) model to ensure a balance between learning new material and practical application.
Always introduce the topic, move into targeted skill instruction (grammar, vocabulary, reading), and conclude with active, conversational practice.
Key structural components include: (Ave of 1 hour session)
1. Warm-up/Introduction (10 min): Introduce activities, reviewing previous material, or setting the goal for the session.
2. Instruction and Study (15 -20 min): Introducing new language, grammar rules, or vocabulary in context.
3. Practice/Application (15–20 min): Controlled exercises to test understanding, followed by freer, more open practice.
4. Production/Feedback (5–10 min): Students use the new language in a real-life situation (e.g., speaking, writing) with teacher feedback for improvement.
Flexible structure allows for personalized adjustments to different proficiency levels and ensures that the learner adapts and understands the session/s.
