I don't just re-explain the textbook. I break down concepts step by step, using examples and analogies until things click. I ask questions constantly, not to test, but to find exactly where the confusion is. Every session ends with a quick summary and a few practice problems to check understanding.

I don't just re-explain the textbook. I break down concepts step by step, using examples and analogies until things click. I ask questions constantly, not to test, but to find exactly where the confusion is. Every session ends with a quick summary and a few practice problems to check understanding.
What I cover:
GCSE and A-Level Chemistry (including OCR)
First-year university general chemistry
Specific topics: organic chemistry, analytical techniques (titrations, UV-Vis, TLC), reaction mechanisms, mole calculations, and exam technique
Teaching dynamics:
I keep sessions focused but relaxed. I've found that students learn best when they're not afraid to say "I don't get it." I adapt to each student—some need visual explanations, others need to work through problems step by step. I always check in at the start of each session: what went well since last time, what's still confusing, what do they want to focus on today.
My experience:
I'm a first-year Chemistry student at the University of Edinburgh with a 79% average and a Bronze medal in the UK Chemistry Olympiad. I've completed hands-on lab work in organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry. I've also led student discussions as a Chemistry Society member and co-founded a student society where I explained technical topics to non-experts. I know what it's like to struggle with a concept and how to work through it.
