My sessions are conversational and student-led, meaning I follow the teen's energy and needs rather than sticking to a rigid script. Each session typically flows like this:
Check-in : We start by simply asking how the student is feeling and what's on their mind. This sets the tone and builds trust over time.
Focused Topic : Based on the check-in, we dive into one of three areas : mindfulness, emotional resilience, or coaching , whichever feels most relevant that day. For example, if a student is stressed about exams, we might do a short breathing or grounding exercise, then talk about what's driving the anxiety.
Practical Tools : I introduce one simple, actionable technique per session , something they can actually use that same week. No overwhelming theory.
Reflection & Wrap-up : We close by summarising what came up and what the student wants to try before the next session.
Teaching Methods I use:
Socratic questioning (asking rather than telling)
Guided mindfulness and breathing exercises
Journaling prompts
Visualisation techniques
Goal-setting frameworks
Experience: I have completed training in mindfulness, life coaching, and emotional resilience, and have worked with individuals on building self-awareness and coping strategies.
