Jessica Van Zyl-Smit

I teach English across all levels and ages, from seven-year-olds to retirees, and I teach both casual conversation and business English. I have a year and a half of teaching experience across three different schools and companies, and I’ve supported students preparing for their IELTS tests.

My lessons are positive and jovial, yet focused on learning. I place strong emphasis on natural speaking, clear understanding, and practical grammar so students can use real English with confidence. A typical lesson with me is relaxed and interactive — we practice real conversations, correct errors gently, and turn grammar into usable tools.

I believe that English is best learnt through natural speech, and real conversations! Abstract rules, and silly tasks don’t teach students much more than theory, it’s the application of them in real conversations that allow for accurate, and fast, learning to take place.
