All of my lessons are fun, slow, and tailored specifically for the individual needs of each child.
Currently, I work as a Special Education Teacher, having worked closely with children in many different situations, from autism to learning disabilities. First and foremost, I always strive to provide a safe space in which a child will feel comfortable trying and failing and making progress at his/her/their pace.
How I approach my lessons:
-Teaching approach: Visual aids, flashcards, songs, stories, and fun games are some of the strategies that I utilize to keep the child interested in the process. For young children, I prefer a play-based approach since it allows for more natural acquisition of a new language. Moreover, I break down every task into smaller parts and employ positive reinforcements in order to motivate the child.
-What is being taught: We begin our classes by working on the basic vocabulary, such as names of common objects, colors, numbers, animals, members of the family, and basic sentence structure. Gradually, we move on to simple conversations, readinwriting. All activities and materials are selected based on the child's age and interests, such as animals, vehicles, and drawing.
