Classes will be structured on 3 levels based on artistic and technical skill that will be determined based on a fun little Art test.

1) We will start with the logistics of setting up a project: Folder structure, naming protocols, installing the specific software.(Krita PureRef and Blender are all open source software)

2) We will continue in the next couple of lessons with a basic introduction...
Classes will be structured on 3 levels based on artistic and technical skill that will be determined based on a fun little Art test.

1) We will start with the logistics of setting up a project: Folder structure, naming protocols, installing the specific software.(Krita PureRef and Blender are all open source software)

2) We will continue in the next couple of lessons with a basic introduction to sketching in Krita exploring the interface, creating new brushes, learning about composition, proportion, anatomy rhythm, perspective, design. This part of the process can be followed also on paper.

The progression will follow a natural curve from simple to complex based on how fast the material is being assimilated.

Based on the class level we will stay at this stage for longer if needed)

3) At this stage Blender and Pure Ref will be introduced. We will learn the basic interfaces of those 2 programs through reference gathering and basic 3D blockouts. Introduction to 3D lighting and rendering
We will alternate between Krita and Blender to polish our designs.

(The classes will be split in material introduction, assignments and feedback.

Based on the class level we will stay at this stage for longer if needed.)

4) Here organic 3D sculpting will be introduced with applications in both characters/creatures and environments. We will explore more advanced lighting.
We will focus less on tools and more on good design. We will analize other designs to learn from other designers.

4) We will focus on Portfolio creation and Artist orientation. How should a portfolio be structured? Final pieces only, sketches, call out sheets? We will discuss this in detail and more.

Final thoughts:

The structure is simple but the material we cover is not. It takes years to master even one of these skills and the risk is that students get overwhelmed by difficulty and give up. I plan to adjust or maybe even focus on one area out of many depending on interest and how fast the students adapt and overcome challenges.

I do not plan to cover AI tools. I will leave this area to someone else.
